I should have saved my money.

The next-door neighbor kid got a car recently. It’s a 2-door Camry, but there are scrapes on both sides. I keep thinking he’s going to hit my car, since he parks in the spot in front of me and gets pretty close. Today I found my license plate holder is cracked and the paint on the front bumper is crackled. If he doesn’t fess up, I’m just kind of hosed. I called next door and asked his mom if she knew anything about it. She told me she knows her son is a bad parker (sometimes he’s feet from the curb) but she also knows that it could have been someone else and neither of us can just blame her kid.

Arrrgh.

Oh, well. It’s just a bumper. I guess I don’t have to pay several hundred dollars to get it fixed.

  1. if i were you, and you know there’s someone who thinks i am the female version of you, i would go buy some old beater for a couple hundred dollars. and i would start “accidentally” having parking “problems” parking the old beater right up against his fucking camry.

  2. File a police report. It’s technically a “hit and run”.

Your insurance company will cover more of the damage if you decide to later file a claim.

My car was smacked outside the slabs last year and it was worth the 5-10 minute phone call to file a report. (it lowered my deductible by half because it was a hit and run and the police had my report on file.)

THEN go get a beater and start parking creatively. 😉

  3. Yeah, and if you got the beater, you’d probably get a multiple vehicle discount on your car insurance! It’s a brilliant plan!
