The coffee Quality Assurance isn\u2019t up to snuff and so we went off to try Verve Coffee from Santa Cruz. They wrap the coffee in a \u201chachimaki\u201d headband. Honestly, it was awful but that\u2019s probably just because I don\u2019t like light &amp; bright coffees. It was good for what it was, but I think sour coffee is awful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_3691.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IIMG_3691.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 3691\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The thing on the list was to take the young\u2019un to Akihabara, but the ladies all wanted to go to the fabric store first. It\u2019s not too far from the hotel I stayed at last year and there\u2019s old Godzilla watching over the lobby.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_3692.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IIMG_3692.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 3692\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We finally made it to Akihabara and met my sister\u2019s friend Yumeko who always has insanely funny stories to tell us. She suggested a French toast restaurant where I had souffl\u00e9 pancakes. They weren\u2019t the production that Gram was and were also much cakier. I kind\u2019ve liked them better, but the best were probably at Hoshino Coffee in Kyoto.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_3694.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IIMG_3694.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 3694\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had to ditch everyone to meet old co-worker Suzuki-san in Koenji. I just picked Koenji because, well, why not? There was a big sign for \u201cCraft Beer Market\u201d and they had Japanese craft beer and grilled meats. What could be better? They also seemed to know Tsutsui-san from Shonan Brewing and I found out that Tsutsui-san grew up very near there!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_3695.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IIMG_3695.jpg\" alt=\"IMG 3695\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I got back late and had to mess with my computer for a while.
