One is that I have a degree in English (one of four degrees I have) and there&#8217;s only a couple of options for that: teacher, waiter, or law school. The other is that there&#8217;s a game being played and I won&#8217;t know the rules unless I go to law school. I&#8217;m trying to fill out a simple form that appears required after death and everyone dies. Shouldn&#8217;t this be easier? I mean, really, affiant? Devisee? Testate? Affidavit? What language are they using anyway?<\/p>\n<p>My dad has some money owed to him by the State of Oregon and I have to file all sorts of paperwork to get it. And pay all sorts of fees. I called the lawyer we used to write up his will and he thought I was nuts to go to this effort for as little as I&#8217;m going to get. I think that means I get to file the paperwork and beg forgiveness if it&#8217;s wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The weird thing is I used to like filling out forms as a kid. I quickly lost patience though, so my career as a bureaucrat wasn&#8217;t to be. I guess I&#8217;m filling out forms again. The weird thing is that I have to chase around to find legal forms and then I probably have to break out an old typewriter to fill them out. Old school.
