We went to a bakery at the station for breakfast that was the only thing open. I really didn\u2019t need two bread things plus the yogurt, but there was a \u201cset\u201d deal that also got my coffee included.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0980.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0980.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yumi drove us to Mt. Daisen which, as it\u2019s name states, is a mountain. Everything from the parking lot is up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0982.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0982.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a little village with not much there. TabiEats was there and had a video on YouTube about it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_9089.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_9089.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Up one of the longest (the longest?) stone path in Japan is a temple and a shrine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_9091.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_9091.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was told the shrine is more interesting than the temple but I don\u2019t know because we just went to the shrine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_9093.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_9093.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0984.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0984.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0988.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0988.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We kept going up to a viewpoint where there was a clear view of Mt. Daisen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_9094.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_9094.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0986.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0986.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And there it is, Mt. Daisen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0985.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0985-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went back down to the village to get lunch we had curry and ran into members of Yumi\u2019s climbing group.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0990.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0990.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After that we drove on the loop around the mountain to see some more fall views.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0992.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0992.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0993.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0993.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the way back to Okayama, we stopped at a gelato store kind of in the middle of nowhere. They\u2019re right next to the dairy areas and have prize-winning gelato. The closest is mine, Yuzu and Strawberry. Back left is Mariko\u2019s, Kinako and Matcha. Back right is Yumi\u2019s, Matsutake and Golden Milk. Lots of the flavor advertised and quite tasty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_0994.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_0994.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Back at Okayama we went out to yakiniku with Yumi\u2019s running group and it was an old-school store with gas grills.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"IMG_9098.jpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i8u.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_9098.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I ate too much and I\u2019m quite tired from the mountain. That\u2019s about it for the day.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, yeah, while on the mountain I got a glob of pine sap in my hair. A big glob. I didn\u2019t know how I was going to get it out and every time I forgot and touched it I had pitch all over my fingers. We figured I could buy some cooking oil or peanut butter (like I\u2019ve seen peanut butter here) to get it out but what I found was a mini bottle of mayonnaise at the combini.
