Today was the day that I had a meeting with my old manager and my temporary manager at Megacorp. Our whole group was scheduled, one at a time, so it was pretty obvious that we were getting our layoff info today. And we did.
I can’t imagine why, but I was pretty tired today. It probably had something to do with my inexplicable sleep problems. It surely couldn’t be the stress. I took a nap before going to the gym and felt kind of dopey the rest of the day. It was probably for the best, because when I got to the gym I found several of the old-timers in an uproar because our old Mavericks, which became a Gold’s Gym, is now going to be an L.A. Fitness. I guess L.A. Fitness is just going to use the gym as a “pre-sales” location until their behemoth of a gym is finished down in the yuppie Pearl District. At that time, this location will finally close.
So, I think I’m ready for this week to be over.
Bummer..!! when you get lay off.. do you get to claim unemployment.. ?? like 99% of the lazy bums here in Canada..??
hey…you do get to be a lazy bum like the canadians!!!
you’re finally free of that dead weight on your shoulders. let’s get you a real respectable job now 🙂
Even though you’re expecting it, I’m sure it still sucked when the layoff spiel happened–sorry. BTW–you do get to claim unemployment when you’re laid off but there’s a cap (when I did it a 15 years ago–it was like $200/wk?) so it’s not going to be near what you made before.
On the bright side–you get a do-over. Eat one of those big chocolate chip cookies and assess–good luck!
Hope your mom is feeling better–
I PROMISE that it gets so much better from here on out. I think you needed a shake up anyway. (nothing like the opinion of a perfect stranger).
You will get a job you like right next to a better gym.
Be sure to take care of yourself right now and eat right. You do have a lot of stress going on and you are so prime to get sick and feel like crap. Might as well head it off.
